Good Morning to All the Saints and Friends;
Today coming in to the Church you could see the Mandeville area coming back to life, We have approximately 25% of the power restored, gas stations are opened, hardware, some food and people returning to the area.
What they are returning to is homes with trees on top of them, jobs lost, uncertainty of the future. In the surrounding towns the situation is not as good or as clear as we have here. Our groups are still out to these areas and yesterday went to Waveland, Kiln, Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Provisions are arriving to these areas now and different needs are developing. S0 much destruction, with so much loss.
I visited Bogalusa, La. yesterday with a group from Columbus, Ms. and what I saw was a truly humbling experience as they were ravaged by wind and most are without power. These people were lined up in cars picking up essentials, ice, and water. There was little in the way of toiletries, diapers, formula, cleaning solutions, BLEACH. We will make another run up there today. However, we see the people coming out of their fear and now facing shock as they deal with the reality of what has been lost. So much pain. However, what amazes me is that those that are working here have not taken time to look after their own homes, but thrown into the battle that we currently face.
We have been so blessed this past week. Groups have shown up to help. We are in amazement when we look at how they get here, armies of good souls that have heard of our plight in SE Louisiana and come to help, some just on the doorstep loaded and ready to help.
The group from Homewood, Ala was one of the first and there coming when they did allowed us so much hands when we did not know how we could get through the day. Provisions from the Red Cross keep coming. One truck came from Pennsylvania from a parking lot and turned into our driveway with food and provisions at the time they were needed the most.
Dardanelle, Ark, Little Hicking, Oh., Russellville, Ala, Lexington, Al; Muscle Shoals, Al; Vestaria, Al, Pottsville, Ark., Denton, Tx; Ferris, TX; Hemphill. TX.; Iowa City, IA;Des Moines, Ia.; Ames, IA; Coraville, IA., Riverside, IA.; Lake Ramsey, IA., Chalmette, La., Lacombe, Lake Charles, La. Lafayette, La. Kenner, La.; Gardenville, Ark.; Oak Ridge, Ten....and others, just coming and coming. We have aid coming from Canada, Honduras, Mexico, people from all over responding to Gods call. We have made the news from Missouri to Seattle, to Phoenix and calls are coming in as well from those areas.
God has a plan, given his instructions and the people here are on the ground taking comfort to the hurting souls.
We still have so many needs and will for a long time, but we are seeing where to grow and go deliver Jesus in their lives.
The people of SE Louisiana are special, they will rebuild. We have to prepare for them to come home. Mandeville is committed to working in the other areas to assist all in need, God is directing and protecting us.
This is the Good news. The Bad news is that areas are still under water, no power, no water, no services. I can tell you that for the past days we have labored in heat and it is not pleasant. Yesterday I talked to the Parish Council in St. Bernard and they will no be able to even get on the streets for 2-4 weeks. 80% of the homes are destroyed, 90% of the people in shelters or other homes. I listened to their tears on the phone and promised to come as soon as we could. We know the churches in New Orleans were flooded and their members spread out. We want to be able to send crews out to repair what they have lost and are preparing. We heard the cries of those around us as we went to the outlying areas, heard their please for mercy. The Good News is that we are organized and ready to bring this comfort to these areas.
God is Good and will direct us.
We will be continuing our efforts to bring food and supplies to these areas, but will now start to move into the neighborhoods to bring help and comfort. Also, to bring prayer, counseling, devotion to Gods plan that could come into their lives.
This is a laughing task that we have in front of us and will be for many years to come, but we Praise God that he has delivered to us this opportunity for those that love the Lord.
Satan has been run out and God has delivered to us this opportunity to take his message to the flock. Shame on us all if we do not heed his calling.
Today is a day of Prayer and we ask that all lift up these our prayers to the Altar of God, thanking him for Son and the grace that he has given to us. !!! and not only us but to all who hear his calling.
Get the word out; his saints are on the ground marching into battle. We cannot do this alone and need your help.
We would like to hear from you even if you cannot help at this time, except with prayers.
Get the word out; tell all that you know...
